HM TREASURY
“HM Treasury strongly supports the work CIPFA is doing in the financial management arena. We used Version 1 of The CIPFA FM Model extensively in drawing up the framework for our financial management reviews in central government. Version 2 of the model will be even more valuable with its enhanced focus on performance data and performance management. The CIPFA FM Model sets robust and challenging standards for public service organisations to self-appraise against.”

Mary Keegan, Managing Director, Government Financial Management and Head of the Government Finance Profession

AUDIT COMMISSION
The CIPFA FM Model has helped define good practice and set appropriate standards for financial management in public bodies. It reflects the key elements of financial management and is entirely consistent with the criteria used by the Commission in assessing local government and NHS bodies’ use of resources.

The Audit Commission welcomes the revisions to The CIPFA FM Model, which reinforces the importance of board level commitment to, and engagement with, financial management.”

Steve Bundred, Chief Executive, Audit Commission

Do you know how effective your organisation’s financial management is? Finding out is where The CIPFA FM Model can help. The model is designed as a self-assessment tool to help you assess the contribution financial management makes at all levels of your organisation. Its practical application will help your organisation to:

  • Establish a profile of its financial management.
  • Test organisational leaders’ skills in financial management.
  • Compare this with where it wants financial management to be positioned, in order to maximise organisational effectiveness in the short or longer term.
  • Build a team-based approach to improvement in financial management.
  • Identify strengths and areas for improvement.
  • Develop an action plan.
  • Help prioritise improvement.
  • Review and track its progress over time.

The model is presented as a series of statements representing good practice for achieving high performance in financial management. You can then score your performance by responding to carefully crafted questions and gain a clear picture of where your organisation is at. Engagement with the model is available as follows:

OPTION 1:
A hard copy publication with conceptual and contextual guidance together with all the statements and supporting questions at £145.00 per copy

To purchase the hard copy click here.

OPTION 2:
A secure dedicated website at £500.00 (+VAT) for access right through until June 2010

Hitting the ground running… (Consultancy Support)
Although a prime attraction of version 2 of the model is its ease of use, numerous version 1 purchasers have benefited from the supplementary tailored training and consultancy available from IPF, CIPFA’s wholly owned management support services company. IPF’s consultancy team has unrivalled experience of supporting public service bodies to capture the maximum benefit from using The CIPFA FM Model.
