A Step by Step Guide
International Financial Reporting Standards – Essential Training for the Public Sector
A major change in public sector accounting was announced in the 2007 Budget so that annual accounts of central government departments and related public bodies will be produced using International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) from the 2008/09 financial year. This means that 2007/08 accounting information will need to be re-stated for comparative purposes. The transition to IFRS for local authorities will follow in subsequent years. To prepare the way for major changes in the way accounts of public bodies are produced, CIPFA and PricewaterhouseCoopers have developed a suite of three workshops that are being delivered throughout the United Kingdom:
A Step to Step Guide to Implementation
This is a two-day workshop that provides a practical guide to the essential steps to be taken to ensure successful implementation of IFRS requirements. The workshop will include an update on HM Treasury guidance, FRAB and convergence, including the timetable; an overview of the main standards; first time adoption of IFRS using a practical case study; accounting treatment issues including leases/PFI, fixed assets and managing the increased disclosure requirements of IFRS. The workshop is scheduled to be held at the following locations:
London: 20 & 21 May 2008
The cost of attendance is £695 + VAT to include tuition, materials, refreshments and lunch. An additional suite of workshops is also being run in Belfast.
This workshop will be delivered by leading PwC and CIPFA trainers. PwC has been working with HM Treasury on IFRS implementation for the UK public sector and has previous experience of advising many private sector organisations on the implementation of IFRS.
Participation on these workshops will be most relevant for public sector finance leaders, accountants and finance personal responsible for financial accounting and reporting.
